March Meeting
The July 21 General Membership Meeting will be an indoor fajita picnic, catered by Coburn’s Catering Service. The picnic will be held at the VFW Post and tickets are $15.00 each. Tickets are on sale at the June General Membership and ROMEO Breakfast Meetings. If you are not able to purchase a ticket at either of the meetings and would like one, please contact Cindy Guiles at 817-988-3608, to reserve a ticket. Cindy will collect payment for the reserved ticket at the picnic. If you have purchased or reserved a ticket and find you will not be able to attend the picnic, please let Cindy know before 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 19. NOTE: NEW DEADLINE FOR RESERVING OR CANCELING A PICNIC TICKET IS 6 P.M. SUNDAY, JULY 19, 2026. NO TICKET SALES AFTER THAT TIME.

Independence week kicked off on Monday, June 29th with flags and fireworks at the Hulen Street Dixie House Cafe. There were a total of twenty-six ROMEOs (6-Dames and 20-knights) feasting on our monthly breakfast with great fanfare as we looked forward to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the declaration of independence. The festive event was marked with many dressed in patriotic attire, however, the most patriotic had to go to Earnest Brown who was decorated from hat to shorts in the most red, white and blue of colors. He is our designated Flag Man!
Other notable guests were Doug Abernathy and Kathy Simpson. This was Doug's first ROMEO after retiring in July 2025 after 39 years at the Bomber Factory. He's an LM Fellow with a career dedicated to Navigation Architecture and Algorithm development for the F-16, F-35, ADP and more (with all this background, we really do not know why it took almost a year to find ROMEO ...). Kathy, who moved to South Carolina three months ago, extended her visit to Fort Worth to include our ROMEO breakfast. Ohh, we miss her humor and jovial candor. Although he could not attend this month, we all clapped for Dell Fussell who will be celebrating his 85th birthday on July 12th - Happy Birthday!
We ended our breakfast with the most unique "Flag Waving Ceremony". This wave is for our great nation and to all of you to come out to see us at our next ROMEO breakfast on July 27th. As you can see from the lively photos, you never know who or what will show up.

We celebrated the half way point of 2025 with our end of June ROMEO breakfast and welcomed first-timer Curt Fischer. George Cude and Kevin Guiles were recognized for June birthdays as they were among the 22 attendees. Several mentioned summer travel plans as we gear up for the 4th of July holidays.
We will meet next on Monday, July 28th, at 8 a.m., at the Dixie House Café, 5402 South Hulen St., Fort Worth. Hope to see you there.

November Meeting
At the April meeting, Downtown Ernest Brown brought in a special guest speaker, Mr. Bill Wait, who gave a fascinating presentation on women in aviation. We all learned something new and enjoyed the event.
At our June Meeting:
After surviving the first 100 degree day of 2024 there were 21 individuals (18 men and 3 women) who joined together at Dixie House on South Hulen for the first retiree breakfast of the summer. For those who were fortunate enough to attend the breakfast, the morning greeted us with temperatures in the 70s and wide open roads with school out. We celebrated Jim Sager who has been married for 65 years as of June 20 and Kathy Simpson who made the wise decision to move to Texas 60 years ago. Our next meeting is on Monday, July 29 at 8am at Dixie House on South Hulen in Ft. Worth. Best of all Ed Neel will be back from his European River cruise vacation and will regale all with tales of his adventures. We hope you can make it!
